We’re hiring — Systems & Mobile Robotics Programmer

TALLERS SERRA, S.L. builds industrial machinery for the corrugated board sector, in Martorell. We are looking for a systems programmer with real experience in Python, Linux and robotics to join the R&D department — working on our industrial software platforms and on the artificial intelligence, robotics and automation projects the company is pushing forward.

The department runs several lines at once — machine vision, mobile robotics and plant automation — so we want someone who can move between projects and take on the new ones as they appear. You would be part of a small, multidisciplinary technical team with a high degree of autonomy and direct contact with the product, the plant floor and the customer.


What you would do

Software development — Python and Node.js

  • Build and maintain the Python back end and the Node.js front end of our applications.
  • Write Python to customise industrial systems.
  • Deploy, configure and maintain that software on embedded NVIDIA Jetson Orin hardware running Linux.
  • Commission and validate systems at the customer’s plant, and diagnose incidents remotely.
  • Manage the code under version control (Git).

Mobile robotics and automation

  • Program and commission autonomous mobile robots (AMR) that move material around the plant.
  • Integrate robots and equipment from different manufacturers under one control system.
  • Take part in the department’s new robotics, machine vision and automation projects.

AI as a working tool

  • Constant use of AI assistants as support for programming — this is expected, not tolerated.
  • Maintain and adapt our own AI agent harness, a fork of the open-source OpenClaw project.

Documentation and training

  • Write technical documentation in the format that fits each reader: README.md for equipment setup, PDF for robot programming, customer manuals in Word.
  • Structure the code and document how it works, in markdown or a wiki.
  • Run training sessions for colleagues in the department.

What we ask for

Education: a degree in Computer, Electronic, Control or Robotics Engineering, or an equivalent higher vocational qualification (CFGS).

Minimum requirements

  • At least 3 years developing software.
  • Solid experience building applications in Python.
  • Experience with Node.js and JavaScript.
  • Linux system administration: command line, services, networking, permissions.
  • Version control with Git.
  • REST APIs and system-to-system communication (MQTT, OPC UA, sockets or similar).
  • Design patterns, object-oriented programming and good development practice.
  • Willing to travel — up to 20% of the time.
  • High level of Spanish, upper-intermediate English (technical documentation, international suppliers).

Nice to have — none of these are dealbreakers, and for the last two, genuine interest counts.

  • NVIDIA Jetson embedded platforms (Orin, JetPack, containers).
  • Having programmed your own robots or autonomous vehicles — professionally, academically or for the fun of it.
  • ROS / ROS 2.
  • Robot fleet managers.
  • SCADA systems.
  • Machine vision (OpenCV, YOLO, DeepStream), or interest in learning it.
  • PLC programming (Siemens or Rockwell), or interest in learning it.
  • Containers (Docker) and service deployment.
  • Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Writing technical documentation and training colleagues.
  • Agile methodologies.
  • Living near Martorell.

  • Full time, 40 hours a week: Monday to Thursday 07:30–13:30 and 14:15–17:00, Friday 07:30–13:45.

How to apply — take the test

Instead of asking for a cover letter nobody enjoys writing, we ask you to sit a short online technical test. It takes up to 130 minutes, but every section can be skipped — and skipping one removes exactly that section’s minutes from your clock, so you are never penalised for time you did not use.

That is deliberate. We are looking for someone skilled who fits the team — not someone skilled at everything; nobody here is. There are several different shapes of person who would complete this team well, so skipping whole sections is completely fine. If you do skip one we ask two short questions about it, because knowing whether a gap interests you is more useful to us than a mediocre attempt. Parts of the test are deliberately hard — we are also reading how you hold up when the material gets uncomfortable. Using an AI assistant is allowed and expected; we simply ask you to say where you used one. One attempt per person.
